Can Natural Skin Care Prevent the Need for Plastic Surgery?
07/11/2008
Plastic surgery used to be primarily for people who had either suffered disfigurement from an accident or injury or needed to look good for the big screen. It then evolved into something used by older people who wanted to look younger. Now it’s being used simple to change one’s appearance. Perhaps if people were aware of the drawbacks of plastic surgery they would be taking other routes such as diet, exercise and natural skin care treatment to get the look they want.
What can plastic surgery do, other than make you beautiful?
First of all, you’re probably going to be under general anaesthetic, which carries risks all on its own. Although there aren’t specific figures available, it’s estimated that about one in 100,000 people die under general anaesthesia. If you’re getting surgery for a life threatening situation or a disfigurement that makes life unbearable, that’s a risk you would probably want to take. But is it really worth it for anything less?
You also risk infection, scarring or otherwise marking the body in ways that can only be relieved with another surgery, the possibility of permanent damage to an area, discoloration, depigmentation, numbness, bruising, pain, and nerve damage. Some of this damage can even be caused by skin care treatment such as laser surgery.
And all this risk is frequently for something that’s not even going to last – it will probably have to be done again and again.
What are your alternatives? Many of the cosmetic surgeries performed get rid of problems that could have been otherwise dealt with. It’s sometimes surprising how much better someone can look by losing a little weight, toning their muscles, being well nourished, and using natural skin care products that clear up their skin and give it a healthy glow. Believe it or not, a smile also helps. Happy people always look better.
There’s a lot to be said for natural beauty and for aging gracefully. Best of all, the steps you need to take to accomplish that also improve your quality of life far more than going under the knife and may even help you live longer.
Eat well, join the gym – there are special exercises for the face and neck - get rid of toxic chemicals in your household and in your skin care products (try a shielding lotion to prevent absorption of environmental pollutants that age the skin), and you’ll look and feel a lot better.
