Skin Care Takes a Turn in Unstable Economic Climate

09/06/2008

As budgets get tighter in the current economic climate, many people are foregoing plastic surgery and other medical procedures and looking for less expensive options to improve their appearance. While this may be bad news for those who are used to going under the knife or getting injections to erase their flaws, none of those procedures last forever. The workable alternatives, however, are likely to have long- term effects when it comes to skin care and will also benefit your general health.

What are the alternatives?

  • Eating healthy fresh, natural foods instead of the usual canned, packaged and over-processed fare.
  • Taking vitamin and mineral supplements that supply the nutrients we don’t get from our food and help our bodies produce the substances we tend to produce less of as we age.
  • Drinking plenty of clean water from springs rich in the minerals our bodies need for good health.
  • Exercising for 20 minutes at least three times a week to improve our circulation so our skin gets the nutrients it needs.
  • Doing the occasional detox to get rid of accumulated toxins.
  • Switching from skin care products loaded with chemicals to natural skin care products that are not as harsh and irritating.
  • Using a good shielding lotion to protect our skin from environmental chemicals and pollutants.
  • Getting enough sleep.
  • Arranging our lives so we’re not under so much stress.

Sounds good, don’t you think? It’s a lot less expensive than surgery, and you’ll be happier and healthier as a result.

While the miracle of modern medicine has made a lot of people look younger, it does nothing to improve the conditions that caused us to not look our best in the first place. A healthy, natural lifestyle, as chemical free as you can manage, and a good skin care product like a shielding lotion to protect you from the chemicals you can’t avoid will do a lot more than just make you look better. Give it a try!
